At a meeting of the New Plymouth Public Library and Museum Committee On Tuesday the chairman handed over to the institution on behalf Of Miss Fanny Good, “Ramanui,” Hawera, and a number of her personal friends keenly interested in her artistry, over 200 Partings in oils of the native flowers of New Zealand, all sketched aS appearing in their native conditions and each and all depicted after the natural colouring of the flower. . The collecting and painting of this striking collection has been a life work, and no-dne but ah enthusiast in the love of Nature, and'one also gifted as an artist, could have carried OUt the immense amount of work entailed in die outlining and completing in the endless variety of colour that Miss GoOd has done—a labour- not only demanding great industry physically and. mentally, but also severe tax on the sight. With regard to sight regret was expressed that Miss Good’s sight had suffered greatly by the strain brought about by her concentratoin on the minute detail required to be shown in so many of these paintings. It was resolved that the thanks of the committee On behalf of the institution be given to Miss Good and her Supporters for the gift of this valuable collection of paintings of New Zealand flowers, and that a letter be written to Miss Good conveying the committees special thanks fob her valuable and greatly appreciated gift.
