DR. D. JENNESS RECOGNISED. FORMER NEW ZEALAND STUDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. , The honorary degree of doctor of literature was conferred on Dr. Diamond Jenness by the Senate of the University of New Zealand to-day on the recommendation of the Academic Board. Mr. Jeness was formerly a student at Victoria University College, graduating M.A. in 1908 with first-class honours in classics. He is at present chief of the anthropological section under the Canadian Government and in charge of the anthropological department of the Canadian National Museum at Ontario. Dr. Jeness has written numerous and extensive reports' on various phases of Eskimo anthropology and in addition a well-known book "Children of the Twilight,” published in 1928. He has also published and edited reports on American aborigines. He is recognised as one of the leading anthropologists of the present day and his published works-are evidence of his outstanding literary ability.
