WEEK OF BOWLING
TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. OPENING OF PLAY TO-DAY. The Taranaki Bowling Centre’s annual tournament, which is regarded as the bowling event of the year in Taranaki, opens to-day on four New Plymouth greens, New Plymouth, Vogeltown, Fitzroy and West End. Freshened up by the rain of Saturday night all the greens will be in good order and as the centre executive has again made complete arrangements bowlers should have an enjoyable week. Forty-eight rinks have entered representing practically all the clubs in the centre and also several clubs of other districts, including Onehunga, Rapanui, St. Johns, Wanganui, Foxton, Woburn and Lower Hutt. i The rinks have been divided into four sections of twelve, and nine games of section play will be played, three each on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Post-section play will start on Thursday. An innovation has been introduced this year by the inclusion of a pairs- - entries for which will not close until Wednesday night. Players, , therefore, whose rinks do not enter the’ post-section play will be able to parti-1 Cipatg in fustier bowling if they wish. 1
