KITCHEN EVENING.
MISS L. BROWN ENTERTAINED. A few girl friends and fellow employees who were associated with Miss Lindsay Brown when she was a member of the Hawera staff of Messrs. George and Doughty Ltd., organised an enjoyable kitchen gift evening for Miss Brown at the Scout Hall on Wednesday. There were about 100 guests and the party was very sociable. The guest received many articles foi- kitchen use. Miss Brown, whose marriage to Mr. C. Davies, Wellington, will take place shortly, wore a frock of exclusive design, fashioned in uncrushable crepe cueta with tones of Sandringham blue predominating. The joint hostesses were Miss E. Searle (Petal pink silk ninon flowered in a deeper tone of pink), Miss J. England (smart brown and white checked silk taffetas) and Misses Muriel Leggatt, V. Cameron and G, Isherwood, each of whom wore smartly cut white tennis frocks of silk crepe argetto. Mr. T. Hannon was master of ceremonies, and Mrs. Rowe and Miss Eileen Kelsen and Messrs. Ware and Prime (Eltham) played for the dances. There were card games for non-dancers. Items by Miss Ada Whyte and Miss Joyce Goodwin were applauded and novelty dances created much interest. The prizewinners were Miss Doris Morrissey and Mi. C. Toy (Monte Carlo), Miss J. Goodwin and Mr. R. Clarke (spot waltz) and Mrs. D. Cameron and partner (statue waltz). After supper and the opening of the "'arcels, Mr. C. Jones, in the absence of Mr. C. Davies, thanked those present on behalf of Miss Brown. -
