SCHOOL BATHS BARRED

POSITION AT INGLEWOOD POLLUTION OF WATER SUPPLY. REPORT TO EDUCATION BOARD. It would not be permissible to construct swimming baths at the Inglewood school because it was not possible to dispose of the waste water without polluting streams used by the Waitara Borough Council for water supply, reported Dr. M. Champtaloup, medical officer of health, to the Taranaki Education Board yesterday. Dr. Champtaloup drew attention to the fact that the site of the new school at Inglewood was close to certain streams contributing to the Waitara water supply. The school was partly bounded by the Waiongona-iti and another stream. She had informed the headmaster that these streams must be out of hounds for the children. To help in this connection she requested that the board should have the property fenced. The matter was discussed but no action was taken. The manual supervisor, Mr. D. Mackay, reported that instruction had been concluded at all centres on December 14. During the remainder of the school year the instructors had been occupied in putting their centres and equipment in order and in completing returns and furnishing requisitions.
