OPENING DAY’S PROGRAMME
ALTHOUGH the official opening of the session will not be held untit to-night, the lecture periods will commence this morning at 9 o clock. The programme for the day is-:— 9.0 to 9.45: Professor Sewell, “The Theatre.” 10.0 to 10.45: Mr. Johannes C. Andersen, “Maori Art.” 11.15 to 12 noon: Mr. D. M. Rae, “Impressions of Education Abroad.” 12.0 to 12.45: Mr. M. Jenner, “Music.” Afternoon: Recreation. 7.0 to 7.45: Folk dancing. 8.0: Official opening. . 9.0 to 9.30: Community singing. , The chairman, in the evening will be Mr. R. W. D. Robertson, and the speakers are the Mayor (Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour), the Hon. S. G. Smith, Messrs. N. T. Lamboume, H. R. Billing and A. Bain. Mr. D. M. Rae, president of the school, will reply. The leaders of the movement, Dominion and local officials and the' lecturers for the sessions will be introduced. A musical programme arranged by Misses C. Leatham and E. ,L. Dowling will conclude the evening.
