MAN DIES AT WEDDING
ENGLISH BRIDEGROOM'S FATE. COLLAPSE AT BRIDE’S FEET. . A bridegroom collapsed and fell dead the feet of his bride in the course of the. .wedding ceremony-at the register office at Macclesfield, Chesire, a few weeks -ago. The bridegroom was Mr. .John Mottershead, aged 49, who was to have been married to Miss Mary Mayer, aged 26. The registrar was about to begin the ceremony when Mr. Mottershead collapsed. Medical aid was summoned, but Mr. Mottershead died before the doctor arrived. , • The intended bride, sobbing, gave evidence at the inquest on Mr. Mottershead, which was held that night. She said th4t Mr. Mottershead had defied his doctor’s instructions not to attend the ceremony. She said she had known Mr. Mottershead for 12 years. She knew he had chest trouble. The coroner: Arrangements had been made on various occasions for him to marry you?” "Yes.” “It was put off several times on account of his ill-health?” "Yes.” “You heard the doctor tell him. he was taking a big risk and should not go, but . Mhe insisted?” “Yes.” A doctor said Mr. Mottershead had been a'patient of his for two years and a hhlf. He had attended him regularly z for the past three-months for tuberculr osis, bronchitis, and asthma, and he had X also had irifluenza about six weeks previously. “I learned this morning,” added the doctor, “that he was going to be married. I told him he was taking a grave risk.” . A verdict of death froth natural causes was returned. .
