TWO WOMEN HURT
MOTOR COLLISION AT ELTHAM. MOUNTAIN AND ROTOKARE ROADS. Two women were injured in a motor collision that occurred yesterday morning at the junction of Mountain and Rotokare Roads, near Eltham. One, Mrs. Leuthard, senr., Stanners Street, Eltham, sustained a broken wrist, and after treatment by Dr. Crawford was taken to a private hospital. The other, Mrs. Schumacher, a visitor from the Waikato, received severe cuts and abrasions on the face and was treated in hospital. Both were driving in a two-seater car towards Hawera and at the intersection collided with a light motor-truck driven by Mr. Wm. H. Wells, of Ararata. The truck was turned into Mountain Road. The right-hand side of the truck received the full force of the impact, and the.vehicle was turned around, the running board and two right-hand mudguards being smashed by the impact. The front bumper of the car was dented, and the two front mudguards smashed. The windscreen was splintered, flying fragments causing injury to the passenger. It was the first serious motor accident that had occurred in the Eltham district during the holidays.
