OLD BUILDING BURNS
UNOCCUPIED FOR FIVE YEAMS. 40-YEAR-OLD BIG BOARDINGHOUSE By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Jan. 4. Fire last evening destroyed Clarence House, a boardinghouse built at Hanmer Springs 40 years ago. It had been unoccupied for the last five years. The building was owned by the Duncan Rutherford estate and was insured for £lOOO in the Yorkshire Office. It had previously been used for a time to house portion of the staff of Queen Mary Hospital.
