HAUPTMANN TRIAL
ALLEGED MURDER OF BABY. WIDESPREAD INTEREST ROUSED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, Jan. 2. A message from Elemington (New Jersey) states that what promises to be one of the most sensational murder trials in American history opened to-day when Bernard Richard Hauptmann was brought before the bar of justice, charged with murdering the Lindbergh baby. Ten jurors were selected during the day, four of whom are women. It is expected that the prosecution will call the first witness to-morrow. Newspapers both here and abroad are devoting much space to the proceedings.
