FLIGHT TO CONGO

WALLER SETS OUT IN HIS COMET. AIR MAIL SERVICE DEMONSTRATION British Wireless. Rugby, Dec. 20. Mr. Kenneth Waller, who with Mr. Cathcart Jorjs recently flew to Australia and back in 13j days,, left yesterday for Belgium to make a flight to Belgian Congo in the Comet aeroplane used for the Australian flight. The range of the machine is to be reduced and other modifications introduced for the journey, which is intended to demonstrate the possibility of a regular air mail service over this route. Mr. Waller, with the Belgian airman, Captain Franchomme, left Brussels today. They landed at Gran this afternoon, having completed a 1060 miles stage, of the flight in four hours 56 minutes, at an average speed of 210 miles an hour. To-morrow they will proceed to Nuamey, French West Africa, 1550 miles distant.
