A letter received by Father John, one of the Benedictine Monks who look after "Old Salts” at Alton Abbey, Hants, bore 165 stamps, total value 2Jd. The letter was from Mozambique, Portuguese East Africa. Father John was surcharged 3d because the stamps made the letter overweight.
