THE WENDY HUT.

CHRISTMAS TIME AT THE HUT. Dear Tinks, —“A Merry Christmas to you all!” shout the Hut folk, and “Merry Christmas” seems to be echoing all through the Hut. Indeed, it is even echoing from the kitchen now, for the Twins, after having teased Cookie all the morning, have at last persuaded her to let them go in and see what she is making for Christmas, and by the joyful way they are calling out I think it must be something very good indeed! Hut Gardener at last has everything spic and span in the garden and he has promised us plenty of new potatoes and peas for our Christmas dinner. He has not been quite sure about the peas up till now for all the dry weather checked the growth, but after he had hosed them well the pods began to fill out and now. they are going to be ready after all. The Hut Folk are very pleased, for Christmas dinner would not be Christmas dinner without green peas, they think. Now I must tell ypu who our most faithful Tinks have been all through this year. By “faithful” I mean the ones who wrote most often to the Hut and who showed their interest by sending us poems and riddles and jokes, and sometimes stories, too, to go on our page. Nobody this time wrote every week all through the year, but two Tinks missed only a very few times, and they have sent us lots of poems and stories, too. They are:— MERLE DRUCE, Fraser Road. REX WOODLEY, Mangamingi. We are proud of their record and we congratulate them for they were amongst our faithful Tinks last year, and even the year before that, too. We have been very pleased also to receive so many letters from all the other Tinks all through the year, and we are looking forward to receiving just as many again in this new-year that is coming. Best of luck to you all, Tinks, and again a Merry Christmas from your loving— WENDY.
