HIGH STANDARD OF GOLF SHOWN. NEW PLYMOUTH’ CHAMPIONSHIPS. The recent visits of the British amateur golf team and of Gene Sarazen appear to have had a beneficial effect on the play of the New Plymouth caddies, as a' high and much improved standard was displayed in the annual caddies’ tournament at Waiwakaiho yesterday. The championship was won by J. Jeffries with two good rounds of 87 and 90. The following were the results:--Championship. J. Jeffries .. 87—90—177 J. Holden 87 —94—181 J.
