MANAGER FOR 41 YEARS

VICTORIAN ACHIEVEMENT. DAIRY FACTORY RECORD. Mr. Donald Cameron, manager of the Cobden Dairy Company, Victoria, has a record for service with one company that must be unique—extending over 45 years, of which he had been manager for 41 years. He had seen the turnover increase from £2,169 in 1889 to £150,000 in 1934, the peak year being 1929 with £221,000 turnover. Mr. Cameron has won the challenge shield for four years in succession against the whole of Australia and in competition against Victoria for ten years in succession. Others also have had long association with the company, for in his address at the annual meeting the chairman, Mr. Alan McLeod, said that Mr. Grayland, who was present, had the unique distinction of being unopposed as a director for 45 years. Mr. Mackie had been a director for 41 years and chairman for 22 of them. Messrs. Vagg and Scanlon had been directors for 25 years, while’ Mr. McKenzie was Secretary for 29 years. Mr. Hennessy was manager at Port Campbell for 26 years. ‘The board, hi its eulogies, expressed the greatest faith in the work being done by Mr. Cameron, and mentioned that his advice had been sought by other States and countries. “The success of the Cobden factory is due to the good quality of the cream supplied," said Mr. Wigan, State Superintendent of Export, “and in Mr. Cameron you have one of the finest managers I have met. When trouble comes he finds the remedy and does not blame the grader.” The wish was expressed that Mr. Cameron would long continue to turn out 99.5 per cent, of finest butter.
