“HIAWATHA” CONCERT
NEW PLYMOUTH CHORAL SOCIETY.
For the final concert of the season the New Plymouth Choral Society will present Coleridge Taylor’s romantic symphonic cantata “Hiawatha,” in St. Mary’s hall on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The fact that this work, though it has been twice sung before, has attracted a large number of additional singers to the choir is striking evidence of its popularity, ai ’ this is certain to be reflected in the patronage of the concert, so that those who are not subscribers to the society and who intend being present should lose no time in making their reservations of seats, for which there has already been a sharp demand. The box plan is at Collier’s, where seats may be reserved without extra charge. The work is a singularly attractive one, and affords fine scope for choir, soloists and orchestra in some very picturesque music to which Longfellow’s fascinating poem has been set. The society has been fortunate in. securing as soloists Miss Ivy Campbell, who recently returned from the Melbourne Conservatorium, and Messrs. A. Galloway and Harold Ackroyd- ,
