AN EXPENSIVE PHEASANT
For offences under the Game Licence Act of 1860, a solicitor of Settle, Yorkshire, Mr Eustace Hazzell Vant, was lately fined £6 and ordered to pay £2O costs. Nine summonses were taken out against the defendant, but. seven were dismissed, the other two being for taking a pheasant during the close season, and for taking game without a licence. . ,
Mr Vant, who had a barrister as guest, was seen to shoot down a pheasant on land near Settle.
