BUSINESS GENERALLY SLACK. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Fowl feed is very firm and some business has been done at 3s 914 d, f.o.b.s.e. There has been more inquiry this last week. There has been a little business in forward potatoes, April-May-June delivery being sold at £3 17s 6d. This is equivalent to about £2 7s 6d to £2 10s on trucks. No interest is being taken in the oats market. Early crops are now coming into ear and will yield well. There is no business in the small seeds market. There is very little of. any particular seed in farmers’ hands, and merchants are not being bothered about quoting for stocks on hand. Ryegrass has eased and nominally is quoted at up to 2s 6d a bushel on trucks. Not much, however, would be bought by merchants at this figure, as the indications are that the new crop will be ample. Cocksfoot is quoted at up to 7d, all red clover at 7d to 8d and white clover at 9d. All these prices are more or less nominal, as merchants are not anxious to buy.
