ON HAWERA TRACK
SEVERAL SMART EFFORTS. GALLOPS FOR FEILDING. Aga Khan, The Tiger, Richfield, Silk Sox and Onewhetu were shipped from Hawera yesterday morning by train for Feilding to take part at the meeting commencing to-day. Gold Gleam and Colossal remained for Feilding after the Levin fixture. The tracks have been fast during the week for the finishing work, and several smart efforts were recorded. Mr. J. Kiley’s maiden Onewhetu (Feasey) created a favourable impression by shading The Tiger (Edgecombe) and Aga Khan (Cole) in a five-furlong gallop in the smart time of 1.2 1-5. Silk Sox (Feasey) has been working well and was too good for St. Clara (Edgecombe) over seven furlongs covered in 1.32. St. Clara is a bit backward yet, but is making perceptible improvement. Aga Khan (Cole), who was slightly sore on returning from his northern trip, has recovered and galloped seven furlongs yesterday morning alone in 1.31. There was a heavy fog early and the sectional posts were hard to see. The Tiger (Edgecombe) was given useful strong pace work. Panlof easily defeated Ingenuity in a three-furlong sprint. Cynical Kid (Cole) continues to do his tasks very attractively, and he may be given a run at the Trentham extra day meeting, which should fit him for Christmas. J. Brown’s team, Carfex, Harvest Moon and. Link Divine, all returned in good shape and after a day or two in physic will be bowling along again. Brown was unlucky in not notching a win, as he scored three seconds. Flowerbag worked soundly enough yesterday morning. Beau Star also did useful work. Hawera horses usually do well at Feilding, and the team from Hawera racing to-day can be confidently expected to uphold Hawera’s end. Aga Khan, The Tiger and Silk Sox appear to have excellent prospects. ■■II I ■ I J I |HI/ I I II \
