MOTORS COLLIDE

WOMAN SUFFERS SEVERE CUTS. ACCIDENT AT NEW PLYMOUTH. Mrs. J. H. Shear. Kilis Street. New Plymouth. was severely cut on the arm and head and suffered shock when the light four-seater car in which she was a passenger collided with a transport lorry at a New Plymouth intersection about, 10 o’clock yetserday. Mrs. Shest was sent to hospital and her condition is satisfactory. The cosiisien occurred at the intersection of Devon and Hobson Streets. The car. driven by Mrs. C. N. Johnson, Fillis Street, and containing also Mrs. Shea: and Mrs. M. Neville. Cameron Street, was proceeding into Devon Street

from Hobson Street south, while the

lorry. a heavily laden Auckland-New Plymouth transport vehicle, was being driven along Devon Street toward the town. The car was seriously damaged, particularly on the driver's side, but the truck was not damaged although it swerved into a telegraph, past on the opposite corner. Mrs. Neville suffered only minor injury and Mrs. Johnson had a lucky escape from personal hurt. Mr. J. K. Nadder. New Plymouth. driver ©f truck, was unhurt. Mrs. Sheet was attended by Drs. D. E. Breiwn and IV. J. Reid and taken to bespits! by ambulance. An X-ray examination yesterday atlernaon failed to reveal any fracture of Mrs. Shears skull as had been feared, and her con-diUon was not serious.
