RECORD FOR DIVING
UNDER SURFACE EIGHT HOURS.
CLAIM MADE BY ITALIAN.

Warrant-Officer Carpagnoli, chief diver at the Brindisi naval base, claims a world’s record for diving. When seeking a lost torpedo he stayed under water eight consecutive hours at depths varying from 12 to 72 feet. After reporting the result of the search he dived again and stayed below a further one and a half hours.
