EAST END RESERVE

CONTROL OF PAVILION. SOCIAL COMMITTEE DISBANDED. The control of the hall of the pavilion at the East End Reserve was discussed at a meeting of the East End Beach Reserve Committee last night, when a notice of motion tabled by Mr. F. A. Coleman that the minute or minutes with reference to the control of the hail by the social committee should be rescinded was carried. Under the existing conditions the social committee had absolute control of the hall, said Mr. Coleman. The notice oi motion, if adopted, would place the control of the hall in the hands, of the reserve committee. The principal minute rescinded would .be “that the present social.committee; be a hall committee.’ The authority of the social committee as far as the hall was .concerned was api parehtly wider than that of the parent committee, and that was not desirable, he said. _ There was no record of the true financial position of the social committee, said Mr. Coleman. A statement presented some time ago giving a record of proceedings since April 17 disclosed that revenue was £2OB 10s lid, expenditure £169 14s, the bank balance £33 5s lOd and cash in harid £3 10s 63, making the credit balance £36 16s 4d. . Members of the meeting thought theprofit from such a large revenue was vefy small, and it was agreed that ths social committee should cease operations immediately' and disband. The committee was to be asked to bring down an audited statement of expenditure an/ receipts at the next meeting, when the election of a social committee will be considered. i An application is to be made to tne New Plymouth Borough Council for the use of electrical equipment during carnival nights. It was agreed to hold a gala' day on the same day as the Flannagan Cup open sea race, and the secretary was instructed to apply to the council for permission to charge admission to the reserve for two gala days. Those present were Messrs. A. Milne (chairman), J. Woods, F. A. Coleman, F. Nicholson, J. Milroi, G. Pascoe, F. Duxfield, Paynter, S. J. Smith (borough council representative) and F. Morris (secretary).
