KAPONGA LODGE MEETS

MANCHESTER UNITY EVENING. Bro. F. Beresford presided at the quarterly meeting of the Kaponga Oddfellows Lodge on Tuesday. There was a large gathering of members, including visitors from Manaia, Stratford and Rahotu lodges. Deputy-G.M. Bro. Sherson, Manaia, attended and presented the pas' grand’s emblem to Bro. A. Schicker. After lodge business a social evening was held in honour of Sister Gardner (formerly Sister H. Cleaver). DeputyG.M. Sherson on behalf of the lodge presented Sister Gardner with a silver fruit dish and the past grand’s emblem. Bro. Sherson referred to the splendid work which Mrs. Gardner as Sister Cleaver had done during her term of office with the lodge. She was held in very high esteem by members, who congratulated her upon her recent marriage. Dancing was held to music by Bro. W. Parkes.

Croquet Club Match. A visit from members of the Eltham Croquet Club was paid to Kaponga on Tuesday afternoon, when friendly matches were played. Mesdames Dawson and Tattersall (Kaponga) scored 26 against Mrs. Gubb and Miss Thomas (Eltham) 8, and Mesdames Williams and Evans (Kaponga) 26 versus Mesdames Manley and Cooper (Eltham) 15. Ideal weather prevailed. Personal News. Mrs. J. B. Sattler, New Plymouth, is at present on a holiday visit to Kaponga. Mr. F. W. Fallows, Kaponga, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, accompanied by Mrs. Fallows, is visiting Auckland on his annual leave.
