In the House of Representatives today a Country Party member, Mr. Cameron, South Australia, gave notice of his intention of moving for the expulsion of Mr. J. S. Garden, the Labour man newly elected member for the Cook electorate, New South Wales. Mr. Cameron’s motion covers alleged blasphemous and treasonable statements published by Mr. Garden in 1920 and 1930. The motion asks that Mr. Garden’s seat be declared vacant. The Attorney-General, Mr. R. G. Menzies, intimated that the matter would be discussed by Cabinet to-morrow, prior to Mr. Cameron’s motion coming before the House.
