SPLENDID PAGEANTRY
NOTE OF BEAUTIFUL SIMPLICITY SCENE OF MANY CORONATIONS THERE will be an insistent note of beautiful simplicity at the Royal wedding at Westminster Abbey to-day, because of the selection of Westminster Abbey for the marriage ceremony. The Abbey is the only fitting setting for an event which goes so straight to the hearts of the people. There all British Kings since the Conquest have been crowned; there a great multitude of all that is famous in British history for almost a thousand years lies at rest; there reposes the Unknown Warrior. The Royal wedding to-day will be a day of contrasts. There will be bright and splendid pageantry (and how London loves a pageant!). Such is fitting for the marriage of a King’s son to the Princess of his choice. There will be pomp and colour—and on such an occasion for the nonce the men, with their uniforms of scarlet, gold and silver, will outshine the women.
