RESULTS OF CLUB MATCHES. The results of play in the second round in the Radnor Road combiner doubles competition played last week are: Miss -T. Rookes and S. Reid defeated Mrs. S. Jafd and H. Vickers 6-4, Miss B. Hunt R Vickers defeated Mrs. Hunt and WF Vickers 6-5, Mrs. W. Vickers and P. Andersen defeated Mrs. Mapp and E. Fear 6—l, Miss O. Rookes and A. Mapp defeated Mrs. Andersen and J. B. Hunt 6 2, C. Kelly and W. Rookes defeated Miss Vickers and M. Askew 6-3. _ The third round draw is: Miss J. Rookes and S. Reid v. Mrs. Hunt and W. Vickers, Miss Hunt and R. Vickers v. Mrs. Vickers, and P. Andersen, Mrs. Reid and H. Vickers v. Mrs. Mapp and E. Fear, Mrs. P. Andersen and J. B. Hunt v. C. Kelly and W. Rookes, Miss Vickers and M. Askew v. Mrs. Askew and G. Vickers, Miss 0. Rookes and A. Mapp a bye. Play on the singles ladders resulted as follows: Mrs. S. Reid (challenger) defeated Mrs. W. Vickers 6—3, Mrs. Hunt (challenger) defeated Miss B. Hunt 6-5, E. Fear forfeited to R. Vickers (challenger), H. Vickers defeated G. Vickers (challenger) 6—l. C. Kelly (challenger) defeated R. Vickers 6-0. A general meeting of members has, been held at which it was decided to eh-
ter for the Petrie Shield contest for one-court clubs, the matches being played on Saturdays.
A meeting of the committee was also held recently and rules for ladder match play drawn up. Tuesday and Friday evenings were set apart solely for men’s play. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Vickers and Mr. Watson were elected honorary members of the club for the ensuing season. Personal Items.
Mrs. M. Davis is visiting her son, Mr. S. Davis, New Plymouth. Mrs. W. Tucker, a former resident of Radnor Road, is paying a short visit to the district. She is accompanied by Miss Campbell. Master James Hunt has received word that he has been accepted as a trainee at Flock House. He will leave for Palmerston North on Saturday.
