Berlin has followed the example o! London by having silence zones. The order, which came into force' on October 1, will apply to the whole of Germany. Vienne, it is rumoured, is also considering the idea. ’
Leaking petrol tanks are infrequent nowadays, but on the rare occasions that leaks do develop it is often impossible or inconvenient to effect a repair. Small leaks can be effectively sealed as an emergency measure with the aid of a blob of ordinary chewing gum. Needless to say it has - to be thoroughly masticated first. # * * *
New by-laws have been drafted by the London County Council prohibiting the establishment of petrol stations in certain streets and places, and regulating their appearance. Petrol stations already in existence are exempt for five years. The regulations will not become law until approved by the Secretary of State.
