HAWKE CUP BALL TO BALL RELAY RADIO SOCIETY’S SUGGESTION. Realising the importance attached* to Hawke Cup cricket fixtures by Taranaki enthusiasts the North Taranaki Radio Society last night decided to arrange ball for ball descriptions from 2YB of Saturday afternoon’s play in cup fixtures. A suggestion that a complete broadcast of play should be made was not entertained. Messrs. W. H. Quickfall and P. Hawkins were elected a committee to confer with the Taranaki Cricket Association and arrange a suitable broadcast. “There is certainly sufficient interest in cup matches to warrant a broadcast,” said Mr. Quickfall. The matches started on Friday in most cases and an endeavour was made to finish them by Saturday night. He suggested 2YB should go on the air at 2 p.m. on Saturday and give a ball for ball description until the drawing of stumps. If it was thought advisable records could be broadcast at intervals. The society should not entertain the idea of a complete broadcast of the matches.

“Hawke Cup cricket is the big event in Taranaki cricket. There is plenty of enthusiasm and we should do something," said Mr. Hawkins.
