PLANES FOR AIR MAIL
TEMPORARY APPROVAL GIVEN.
INVESTIGATION RESULT AWAITED.
By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 10.20 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 26. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. R. A. Parkhill, has approved the temporary use of the Atlanta type of four-engined aircraft on the Darwin-Singapore section of the air mail route and the existing fleet of D.H. 61 planes on the DarwinBrisbane section, though there is still a prospect that D.H. 86 planes will be used on the latter section on the opening date. Mr. Parkhill added that the company was averse to using them until the doubts raised by the recent accident were entirely dispelled. It did not seem possible that the investigations in that connection would be completed by the opening date of the Darwin-Singapore section.
