BOTH MARKETS QUIET. PRICES STILL EASING. The London butter market was quiet last week, with a further slight easing in prices, and closed at 73s to 75s for New Zealand salted, a fall of Is on the previous week. The retail price of New Zealand butter last week was raised Id to lOd, and that of Danish by Id to Is 2d. Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week totalled 1703 tons, compared with 1846 tons for the previous week, and 1638 tons a year ago. The quantity of New Zealand butter in store was 5429 tons, compared with 5158 tons for the previous week, and 2600 tons a year ago. The cheese market showed a further easing last week, and closed quiet with New Zealand white at 49s 6d to 50s, and coloured at 48s to 495, a drop on the week of 2s 6d for white and 3s 6d for coloured. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week totalled 15,571 crates, while the quantity in store was ,68,054 crates, as against 35,796 crates a year ago. The Dairy Board’s London office reports Friday’s official closing quotations as follow, those for the previous week being shown in parentheses:— Butter. New Zealand, salted, 73s to 75s (74s to 765; November 23, 1933, 77s to 78s); (73s to 75s equals approx. 8.45 d f.0.b.); unsalted, 745, 76s to 78s (76s to 78s). Deliveries New Zealand, 1703 tons. In store, 5429 tons. Australian, salted, 72s to 74s (74s to 755): unsalted, 745, 75s to 76s (75s to 765). Deliveries, Australian, 1298 tons. In store, 2576 tons. Danish, 95s f.0.b., 117 s spot (100 s 120 s to 1225). Dutch, unsalted, 88s to 92s (82s to 925). Estonian, salted and unsalted, 70s to 73s (72s to 745). Lithuanian, salted, 70s to 74s (72s to 745); unsalted, 70s to 76s (72s to 775). Siberian, salted, 71s to 72s (—). Polish, salted, 66s (67s to 68s). The board has also received the following advice from its agents in Canada: Butter: New York, 29 cents; Montreal, 21 cents. Cheese. New Zealand, white, 49s 6d to 50s (5.37 d f.o.b. (525; November 23, 1933, 47s to 48s); coloured, 48s to 49s (5.14 d f.0.b.) (51s 6d to 525; November 23, 1933, 46s to 46s 6d). Deliveries, New Zealand, 15,571 crates. In store, 68.054 crates.
