PRAISE FOR SCENERY

“UNRIVALLED IN WORLD.”

AUSTRALIAN’S ENTHUSIASM.

Christchurch, Nov. 22.

“There are not enough adjectives to describe the scenery of New Zealand. I certainly cannot attempt to do it justice,” said Mr. P. Malloch, leader of the party of Mildura farmers who spent yesterday at Christchurch. The party had seen the Waitomo Caves, Rotorua, the Chateau, Picton, Buller Gorge and the Glaciers in the past fortnight, and each of the members has been very much impressed. Mr. Malloch said that the drive down the Wanganui River, from Pipiriki to Wanganui, opened 60 miles of scenery that was unrivalled anywhere in the world. He had seen Europe, America and the South Sea Islands, but nowhere had he seen anything to compare with the broad scenic effects of the Wanganui River, the Buller Gorge and the Glaciers, or with the interest of Waitomo and Rotorua. . n “Three years ago I was in California, said Mr. Malloch. “I saw the Yosemite Valley and thought then that it would be the outstanding recollection of my life. New Zealand has it licked. I know that each one of us will do his utmost to influence our friends to come to New Zealand.”

Mr. Malloch added that the arrangements made by the Government Tourist Department were faultless, and the sympathetic interest of the department had added much to the enjoyment of the tour.
