SUCCESSFUL SEASON REVIEWED.
PROFIT SHOWN ON THE TRIALS.
A successful year was recorded in the report submitted at the 28th annual meeting of the Tarata Sheep Dog Trial Club on Saturday night. The trials had proved interesting and enjoyable, while they also showed a small profit. In the absence of the president, Mr. H. Waite, Mr. F. M. Standish presided. The balance-sheet showed that receipts had been £B4 7s Id, the principal items being entry fees £2l 13s 6d, members’ tickets £ll ss, competitors £8 Ils, dance receipts £ll 6s, booth £ll 5s 6d, stall £6 4s 8d and donations £9 14s. Expenditure was £Bl 10s 4d, the principal items being prize money £37 15s and booth, dance and stall £l6 19s 2d. There was a credit balance of £36 Is 2d as compared with £33 4s 5d at the beginning of the year. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman said that the club was to be congratulated on having had such a successful year. It was gratifying that despite the hard times, the year had shown a profit. That was largely due to the work of the women as the stall, the booth and the dance had all shown profits. The success of the club during such a difficult year was a tribute to the economical management, and reflected credit on the president, the chairman of the committee and the secretary. The trials had been maintained at a high standard, as was shown by the entries and the prize money.
Officers elected were; Patron, Mr. R. Paterson; president, Mr. H. Waite; vicepresidents, last year’s were re-elected; auditor, Mr. H. W. Lavell; committee, Messrs. H. Lambert, F. M. Standish, I. Macrae, A. Muir, S. George, C. W. Goodwin, G. Swan, J. Drummond, R. Lambert, M. George and G. Soffe. It was reported that the trials would be held about April, 14 and 15. Votes of thanks were accorded the president, the chairman (Mr. H. Lambert), the secretary (Mr. tan Macrae) and the treasurer (Mr. A., Muir). Special reference was made to the efficient manner in which Mr. Macrae had carried out the work of secretary for nine years and he was voted £2 2s to compensate in some measure for out of pocket expenses. Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs. D. Paterson, for the use of his ground, W. Gray, for the loan of sheep, J. Grieve, for acting as timekeeper, H. W. Lavell, for auditing accounts, W. Drake, F. M. Standish and J. Burgess, for the loan of taniaulins; Mr. A. Skellem for carting; Miss Paterson, for the use of a sheep paddock, the women for services at the booth and stalk, and the Press. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr. Lambert was re-elected chairman, Mr. Macrae secretary and Mr. Muir treasurer.
