SOUTH AFRICAN WAR VETERANS’ GIFT TO THE WAIWERA.—Members of the South African War Veterans’ Association and others assembled on board the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s Waiwera at Wellington just before the ceremony of presenting a memorial plate to the captain of the ship to commemorate the fact that the original steamer Waiwera was the first vessel to carry New Zealand troops to an overseas war.
