ADDRESS AT WHAKATANE. In response to an invitation by members of the Ngatiawa tribe, in the Whakatane district, Sir Apirana Ngata visited Whakatane and received from the tribes personal expression of regret in connection with his resignation from the Cabinet
Sir Apirana addressed the gathering for several hours on matters connected with the Native Commission’s report. He urged the Maoris not to bear any illfeeling in the matter, but to assist the Government in every possible way in the administration of native affairs, andP^ r “ ticularly the land development schemes. He said his retirement from the Cabinet would give him more time to visit arid promote the interests of his electors.
