Sunfce’s win at Carterton was decisive and he is on the up-grade. Dick Whittington, Balbus and Otauru King should show.up, while Hunting Queen and Inveresk are possibilities. Sunee. Arikira and True Shaft have little recent form and Slippery may be troubled by the distance. Sanguine King, who is in great heart at present, should hold them all safe. Eminent may need a race but Beryl Latour and Spearform should be fit horses. Sanguine King should be favourite, but Spearform and Slippery should also be backed. 3.0— MAKO MAKO HACK HANDICAP. Of £BO. About six furlongs.

Royal Routine and Slippery are not overweighted, but Lady Spy has a habit of bobbing up when least expected. Cottesmore is reported to be working well and he would only to be somewhere near his best to cause the opposition a lot of trouble under his luxurious impost. The favourites may be Royal Routine, Cottesmore and Lady Spy. 5.20— HOKIO HACK HANDICAP. ’ Of £BO. Five furlongs.

Instalment, Bodyline and Royal Record are all speedy over this distance, while Gold Gleam, if started, can run out a good five furlongs. Lord Hereford, Bellbroney and Delium are also smart hacks. The best backed may be Bodyline, Delium and Gold Gleam.
