■ Mrs. J. Flynn, Christchurch, is Mrs. T. Crawford’s guest at Whenuakura. Miss M. Dymock, Auckland, was a visitor to Patea this week prior to going to her new home at Wanganui. Mrs. T. E. Roberts, in reply to the toast of “Mother” at the Patea Bible class banquet this week, said the word mother was one of the loveliest in the English language. Miss Freda Hemingway proposed the toast of “Father” and Miss Glenny that of “The Visitors.” Miss Westwood replied to the toast of the Bible students. Items were contributed by Misses Jean Smith, Ona Adams, Joan Nelson, Jean Carey and Annie Hall. The decorations were Miss Jean Carey’s work, the catering being organised by Miss Vera Sheild and Miss Freda Hemingway. Supporting the president, the Rev. W. H. Walton, were the girls’ club president, Miss N. Kelly and Mrs. T. E. Roberts, Mr.'k M. Bolland and Mrs. W. IH. Walton.
