LABOUR CANDIDATE?
STRATFORD’S TOWN CLERK BOROUGH COUNCIL GIVES LEAVE. INTENTIONS OF MR. P. SKOGLUND. STRATFORD SEAT AT ELECTION. Leave was granted the Stratford town clerk, Mr. P. Skoglund, by the council last night to contest the next general election providing that the business of the council is not neglected. Discussion on the matter was taken in committee and the resolution released afterwards. , . It has been persistently rumoured lately that Mr. Skoglund had been asked to stand for Labour. Mr. Skoglund would make no statement, prior to the council meeting, but it is understood that he is willing to offer himself as a Labour candidate for the Stratford seat. He was not at the meeting last night as he went to Wellington early yesterday on council business.
