WHITELEY CHURCH
SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. SPECIAL SERVICES ARRANGED. Special services to celebrate the anniversary of the Whitely Methodist Memorial Church Sunday school were held at New Plymouth on Sunday. Services were conducted by the Rev. S. Henderson in the morning, the Rev. S. Jenkin (Baptist) in the afternoon, and the Rev. J. D. Grocott (Fitzroy) in the evening, and all were well attended. Mr. Grocott replaced the Rev. F. Copeland, who was ill with influenza, at short notice. Appropriate and helpful addresses were given, those at the morning and afternoon services being chiefly for the children, while that at the evening was specially for parents. The feature of the services was the singing of specially selected hymns by a large choir of Sunday school scholars, members of the Bible classes and the church choir. Solo parts were sung by lan Hardy and Herbert Parkinson, and the singing of a small group of boys was a popular part of the musical service. Mr. H. C. Gatland conducted and had the assistance of Miss Sowerby at the piano and Mr. C. E, Morshead at the organ.
