SEAFARER’S CRUISE
FIVE-TON YACHT’S'LONG VOYAGE.
13 I)AYS FROM SUVA TO AUCKLAND
By Telegraph—Press Association.
Auckland, Last Night.
Flying the Suva and Akarana Yacht Club’s colours the five-ton yawl-rigged yacht Seafarer arrived at Auckland from Suva to-day after a voyage of 13 days. The passage was without incident. Easterly weather was experienced for the first four days and the vessel made excellent progress, averaging 120 miles a day. The wind changed to the south and the Seafarer bore westward until 150 miles off the North Cape when easterlies were again experienced. The weather coming down the coast was thick with heavy rain. This was the second voyage the Seafarer had made to New Zealand. Although the vessel was entered for the Tasman yacht race by the Tamaki Club, the skipper, Mr. G. V. Langdale, Suva, who is accompanied by three Suva residents and Marquesan seaman, said he was unable to compete owing to other arrangements. He intends to return to Suva in three months’ time.
