TOO MANY GEESE
LITHUANJ UEER PROBLEM. PUBLIC k ' COMPULSION. Kovno, Nov. 1. In order to dispose of the surplus of geese in Lithuania, caused by a shrinkage in exports of the birds as other countries are raising their own, the Government proposes to force civil servants to eat them. Every official, according to this plan, must, each month, buy one goose for every 100 litas (£2) of his monthly salary. The announcement is said to be causing much worry to highly-paid bachelor officials.
