CHRISTMAS MAILS
DESPATCHES FOR BRITAIN. FOUR VESSELS THIS WEEK. The Postal Department will be exceptionally busy this week dealing with hundreds of bags of letters, parcels and packages containing greetings and gifts to- be delivered in Great Britain before Christmas. Four mails will be despatched from New Zealand for Great Britain during the next six days. Two of the mails will go by the direct route, one via Vancouver and one via San Francisco. The mails will contain all the Christmas matter from New Zealand. The Royal Mail liner Niagara, which will leave Auckland for Vancouver this morning, will take mail for Great Britain, Ireland and Europe scheduled to reach London on December 10. Another mail, specially addressed, for Great Britain, Ireland and Europe, will be despatched from Auckland by the Matson Line steamer Mariposa, which will leave for Los Angeles and San Francisco on Saturday afternoon. This mail is due in London on December 13. The two direct mails will be despatched by the Blue Star Line steamer Trojan Star and the New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor-liner Rangitiki. The Trojan Star is scheduled to leave Auckland at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and her mail is scheduled to reach London on December 24. The Rangitiki - will leave Napier on Friday and her mail is due at London on December 20.
