TENNIS AT OAONUI
GRASS COURTS OPENED. A TOURNAMENT PLAYED. There was a large attendance at the opening of Mr. and Mx*s. Tom Bishop s grass tennis court at Oaonui during the week-end. The weathex - was fine. A tournament was commenced, but owing to the large number present and the limited time it was not completed and Mrs. L. A. Bosworth and L. Bosworth junr., being the only pair with two wins, were adjudged the winners. The results were:— First round: L. Bosworth junr. and Mrs. L. A. Bosworth (owe 30) beat J. Williams and Mrs. Tom Bishop (owe 15) 6—2; Colin Bishop and MrS. J. Linley (scr.) beat J. Linley and Mrs. T. Gardner (owe 15) 6—l; T. Bishop and Miss M. Bosworth (scr.) beat T. Gardner and Miss Q. Coombe (owe 15) 6—2; L. A. Bosworth and M. McQuaig (owe 40) beat R. Bayliss and P. Barrett (owe 15) 6—3. Second round: Bosworth junr. and Mrs. Bosworth beat Linley and Mrs. Gardner 6—2; Williams and Mrs. Bishop beat C. Bishop and Mrs. Linley 6—3; Gardner and Miss Coombe beat L. A. Bosworth and McQuaig 6—4; Bayliss and Barnett beat T. Bishop and Miss Bosworth 6—3. The youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fraser, Arawhata Road, fell from a seesaw at the school on Friday, hurting her shoulder. She was sent into the hospital. Several cases of influenza of a serious nature have occurred in the district.
