FARMERS’ TOUR ENDS
NEW SOUTH WALES—VICTORIA. IMPRESSIONS OF AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 12. A party-of 16 farmers, mostly from the Waikato, returned by the Niagara to-day after a tour of 3000 miles in New South Wales Victoria. They were delighted by the hospitality they received, particularly from members of the Primary Producers’ Union. The organiser said that all had formed the opinion that 'lew Zealanders were better farmers than Australians, who gave much less attention to top-dressing. Among the places visited was a poultry farm with 75,000 hens, which averaged 55,000 eggs daily all the year round. They also saw a farm owned by the Melbourne Board of Works and irrigated by the city’s sewage. It comprised 23,000 acres, carried 32,000 sheep, 1600 cattle and 1000 horses, but these could not keep the grass down.
