BALLOON ASCENT
STRATOSPHERE INVESTIGATION. SCIENTIFIC OBJECTIVE. Moscow, Nov. 1. Russia has constructed a balloon which)will be released tturing the next few days, the purpose of which is an ascent of 20 miles into the stratosphere. It will not carry a crew, but will be an aerial laboratory, equipped with numerous automatic instruments, designed by a meteorologist, Professor Molshanoff, to register ai currents, ionisation and solar radiation in upper strata. The most ingenious contrivance will be the automatic radio transmitter, which at intervals will mechanically convey all the recorded measurements to Leningrad Radio Station.
