CORNWALL DELAYED
ENGINE TROUBLE OF STEAMER. ONLY ONE SCREW FUNCTIONING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Nov. 10. Owing to engine trouble, the Federal steamer Cornwall, which left Auckland at 7 o’clock this morning, turned back when she had passed Tiritiri Island and anchored in the stream at 11 o’clock. She was later berthed at the wharf. A Harbour Board diver will make an examination. Coming up the harbour the Cornwall signalled that she could not manoeuvre. She has twin screws, but she returned to port on one propeller. * The Cornwall has a considerable quantity of cargo still to discharge at main southern ports. If the damage is not serious the ship will sail to-morrow, using the port engine and taking about four days to reach Wellington, where she will discharge her cargo and enter dock. Otherwise she must discharge her cargo here in order to enter dock.
