FISHING INQUIRY

AUSTRALIAN TRAWLER’S ACTS. MOVEMENTS OFF WEST COAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. ■ Wellington, Oct. 17. Short of coal and over a thousand miles from her home port, the Australian trawler Alfie Cam put into Wellington in the early hours of this morning. After loading 50 tons of bunker she expects to leave this evening for Sydney. Captain Double says that the vessel has been fishing the West Coast of the South Island and has been a fortnight away from Sydney. The trip across would take about seven days. It is understood that the Marine Department is making an investigation into the movements of the ship in New Zealand waters, as Australian trawlers are prohibited from fishing within certain territorial limits.
