AGRICULTURE SUCCESS
ALTON WINS LANE SHIELD ’ i DOMINION SCHOOLS’ COMPETITION BOYS AND GIRLS’ CLUBS CONTEST ADVICE FROM DIRECTOR-GENERAL The success of the Alton scholars in the Boys and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs competition in winning the Henry A. Lane Shield, which is presented for competition throughout the Dominion, is announced in a letter received by Mr. Sadler, head teacher, from Dr. C. J. Reakes, Director-General of Agriculture. Dr. Reakes' letter states that the school with a total of 42 points has won the shield for the current year.. Arrangements are being made for ’the shield to be handed to the school, to be retained in safe custody until it has been won by another school. An enlarged photograph of the shield will be presented to the school as a permanent record of its success in the competition.
“Please convey to the members of the club my personal congratulations on the very fine effort which has led to the winning of the trophy,” concludes Dr. Reakes.
