STRATFORD WINTER SHOW.
While the question of the amalgamation of the Stratford A. # and P. and the Stratford Winter Show Associations must be left for the two organisations'to decide, there seems a good deal that can be said in favour of that policy. The aims of the two associations are very much the same, namely, to create interest in local and New Zealand efforts towards improvement, whether in farm Iwsbandry, stock or poultry-breeding, mechanics or home industries. Climatic and other considerations make essential a division of classes displayed at a summer and at a winter show, but the desire to afford instruction, interest and recreation applies to both exhibitions. Naturally the question of finance is one that is of much importance to any scheme of amalgamation or to either association should they decide to retain their individual identity. The Winter Show Association is looking ahead. Its experience has shown that a winter exhibition is appreciated by the public and by exhibitors, and the question of a suitable building to make the show still more attractive is now one to which the association must find an answer. The history of the Stratford winter show has been one of progress since its initiation, and the support afforded by the public is a good augury for an effort that will place the exhibition among the permanent social and educational influences in the district. Enthusiasm and hard work have brought the undertaking to success within the limits of the accommodation available. It is for the public to say whether a wider outlook for the future is to be supported. If the necessary financial support is forthcoming questions of .internal management and administration can be left with safety to the two organisations concerned, particularly if they are made aware of local feeling in regard to the suggested amalgamation.
