PERFECT MUTTON
RAM DESTINED TO BE FATHER. SHORT-LEGGED STRAIN BRED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Oct 14. The animal breeding station at Cambridge University school of agriculture is to-day importing a ram from Connecticut destined to be the father of the perfect producers of legs of mutton. The progenitor of the ram was a short-legged strain thrown up in Norway by chance and belonging to a breed similar to the Cheviots. One of these rams was sent to the Storrs agricultural station, Connecticut, which commenced breeding short-legged creatures which the Cambridge school decided to mate with Suffolk cross ewes, thus producing perfect legs of mutton —succulent, tender, short thick legs, with little knuckle, which do not dry up in cooking.
