PREVALENCE OF INFLUENZA. At a meeting convened by the Okato branch of the Farmers’ Union last week Mr. V. C. Davies gave an interesting address on the laying out of the home garden. Mr. L. D. Hickford presided over an attendance of 25. Mr. Davies answered a number of questions and was accorded a vote of thanks. Mrs. K. A. Andrews (W.D.F.U.) provided supper. The capture of the largest number of white butterflies before December 4 is the aim of a competition for three prizes arranged by the W.D.F.U. The pesj is already prevalent in the district. The official opening, of the Okato Bowling Club has been fixed for Saturday. Influenza has been taking toll among Okato residents lately, and in several cases medical attention has been necessary. Some of the sufferers have been taken to the New Plymouth hospital. During the inspection of the Okato domain by the trustees recently a number of wanton acts of mischief were observed. It was stated that warning notices had had no effect. The trustees decided to continue the levelling of the parking area during the summer and postpone the top-dressing and grassing of the basketball ground until the early autumn. . ■ -
